What is the difference between LVT click and SPC click?

LVT (initials of Luxury Vinyl Tile) Click floor is actually a derivative product of LVT. It is obtained by adding a fiberglass stabilizing layer to the base material layer of LVT stone-plastic flooring with a thickness of 4mm or more and then grooving it.
LVT click floors origianlly began in Europe and the United States, with a history of more than 20 years. Its advantages of convenient installation, environmental health, quiet sound absorption, comfortable foot feel, and long service life have made it occupy a considerable market share in the flooring material market in developed countries and regions such as Europe and the United States.
The Structure of the LVT click
The structure of the LVT click is more complex than that of the SPC, with the main structure consisting of a UV coating, a wear-resistant layer, a decorative film layer, an upper bottom material layer, a glass fiber stabilizing layer, and a middle bottom material layer. SPC (initials of Stone and Plastic Composite) is also known as stone-plastic flooring, or stone crystal flooring. Since entering the market ten years ago, it has developed rapidly relying on its own advantages and lower prices under the same specifications, and has been widely favored by consumers. SPC has also developed MGO, MFB and other locking flooring on its own basis.
The Structure of the SPC click
The SPC structure layer is simpler than the LVT, with a top-down sequence of UV coating, wear-resistant layer, color film layer, and base material layer.Usually, in order to increase the foot feel and compensate for the defects of the construction ground, SPC often adds IXPE mute layer. LVT lock does not usually require IXPE sound-deadening layer, and can be customized according to customer needs.
LVT lock catch and SPC are both glue-free lock catch links, with essentially identical installation conditions and requirements. There is no significant difference in the decorative effect visually, but there are many differences between the two products themselves.
1. Different production processes
This is the main difference between the two.The production of LVT lock is a traditional hot pressing process, which is highly automated, complex, energy-consuming, and requires a lot of manpower for equipment. SPC is an extrusion production process with high automation, low energy consumption, and less manpower required for equipment.

2. Different main raw materials
The main raw materials of both are PVC and stone powder, but there is a huge difference in the composition ratio. Compared to SPC, LVT lock has more PVC and less stone powder in its raw materials.
3. The material has different hardness and toughness
Due to the hot pressing production process of LVT lock, the material is pressed under high temperature and high pressure for a long time, and the content of polyvinyl chloride in the raw material is very high, so the LVT lock material is relatively soft and has strong toughness.SPC raw materials are mostly stone powder, which is extruded and stretched into a plate-like shape through extrusion process, resulting in a hard and "brittle" material.Therefore, LVT lock is also commonly referred to as soft lock or semi-hard lock, while SPC is often referred to as hard lock.
4. Different customer experience
The soft material of the LVT lock determines that the LVT lock has a better foot feel and better noise-absorbing performance than the SPC.
5. Different conventional thicknesses
The common thickness of LVT lock catch is 4.0mm~5.5mm.The thickness of SPc is generally 4.0mm~8.0mm, and the overall thickness can reach 9.50mm after being equipped with a 1.5mm IXPE mute pad.
6. Different embossing
LVT lock catch and SPC surface are both embossed. Generally, the texture of LVT lock catch is better than that of SPC. The LVT lock and SPC embossing can achieve synchronous matching, but SPC (synchronous matching) is more common in the market, while LVT lock synchronous matching is not common in the market due to its high cost.
7. Different prices
Due to differences in raw materials, production processes, and product structures, the price of LVT locks is slightly higher than that of SPC locks when the total thickness, wear-resistant layer thickness, and environmental protection indicators are the same.
Overall, during these years, SPC has quickly won the market with its advantages of lower prices, simpler production, and less investment. However, the quality of SPC on the market is uneven, and there are significant differences in price and quality, which has reduced consumers' recognition of SPC to a certain extent.However, both LVT lock and SPC are very good new environmental protection materials for the ground as long as they comply with national and industry standards.
